PTI Core Committee Meeting – Press Release – 30^th Aug 2023

An important meeting of the core committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf took place today in which following points were discussed:

• PTI will not accept the unlawful cipher trial against Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan in Attock Jail.
• Strongly condemn the judicial remand of Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf, depriving him of the fundamental right to a fair trial.
• A detailed consultation on the strategy of vigorous litigation against the trial of Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf in jail.
• Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan is being punished for taking a blunt stand on the real freedom of the nation and saying absolutely not.
• The secret trial of Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan in jail shows that the government is trying to hide something from the nation.
• In order to hide his ambitions and goals, the former prime minister is being deprived of a free and fair trial.
• Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf's legal team has challenged the secret trial conducted in the jail in the court.
• PTI urges the honorable court to hear this matter immediately and issue orders to stop the series of worst reprisals against Imran Khan.
• The process of targeting Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi as a target of political revenge through the cipher case should also be abandoned immediately.
• There is no legal justification for prosecuting the former prime minister and former foreign minister under the Official Secrets Act.
• It is a fact that the cipher in its original state is still present in the Foreign Office.
• According to the rules, Cipher never left the Foreign Office, which has been confirmed by former Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah as well as FIA.
• This fact proves baseless the allegation that this cipher was lost somewhere from the former prime minister.
• The cipher was declassified by the federal cabinet under its powers.
• After being declassified, the Official Secrets Act cannot be invoked, making the case a death toll.
• After the cipher text became public, the fact that there was interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan, the core committee of Tehreek-e-Insaaf has also been fully revealed.
• Not only the federal cabinet, but also the National Security Committee approved a protest letter (diplomatic demarche) based on this text of the cipher.
• How can a former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan be punished for taking a stand against blatant interference in Pakistan's internal affairs.
• This case is a link in the ongoing series of breaking the morale of Chairman Imran Khan and crushing Tehreek-e-Insaf.
• These attempts to break the resolve and courage of Chairman Imran Khan or to make Tehreek-e-Insaf politically irrelevant will not succeed in any way.
• In the meeting, Tehreek-e-Insaf President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's message sent from jail was greatly appreciated.
• Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has sent a message that he was with Imran Khan, is and will be till the end.
• Tehreek-e-Insaf President has given clear instructions to his son Chaudhry Moonis Elahi that he will not be part of any secret agreement.
• Tehreek-e-Insaf President Chaudhry Pervez Elahi values ​​the courage and determination and deeply appreciates his bold and principled stand.
• In the meeting, serious concern was also expressed over the lack of effective progress in the investigation of the murder of Arshad Sharif Shaheed, an investigative journalist with a national identity.
• Strongly condemned the enforced disappearance and non-recovery of Imran Riaz, the renowned journalist of the country, for more than three months.
• A strong demand from the federal government to immediately complete the investigation into the brutal murder of Arshad Sharif Shaheed and identify the responsible and expose them to the nation.
• Emphasis is also placed on the need to provide information regarding Imran Riaz Khan's immediate recovery and his health and safety to his family in particular and to the nation in general.
• In the meeting, as a result of the worst state repression, the determination and courage of the jailed leaders and especially the women activists were also greatly appreciated.
• Requesting the Supreme Court to protect the rights of detained workers, especially women workers, by taking effective action against the bare lawlessness perpetrated by the state machinery.
• In the meeting, the illegal arrest of Sindh Tehreek-e-Insaf President Haleem Adil Sheikh from outside the Sindh High Court was also strongly condemned.
• Demand for the immediate recovery and release of illegally detained or forcibly disappeared political activists including Senator Aun Abbas Bapi, Barrister Hassan Niazi and Haleem Adil Shaikh.
