PTI Press Release – Forced Disappearances

The case of forced disappearances of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers, officials, ticket holders and their families.

• Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf requests the Chief Justice of Pakistan for the immediate recovery of all missing Pakistanis.
• Article 10-A of the Constitution gives every citizen the fundamental right to a fair trial.
• In a state with constitution and law, there is absolutely no scope for forced disappearance of citizens or extra-legal measures against them.
• At present, the constitution and laws are completely suspended in Pakistan and the law of the jungle is in force.
• Enforced disappearances and extra-legal measures are being used by the state machinery to crush Tehreek-e-Insaf.
• Enforced disappearance or illegal detention of Tehreek-e-Insaf workers/leaders has become routine.
• Courts are failing to recover the forcibly disappeared workers/leaders and stop the illegal actions of the state machinery against the Tehreek-e-Insaf's affiliates.
• After Zahoor Mashwani Sadaqat Abbasi and Usman Dar are also missing.
• Tehreek-e-Insaf South Punjab President Senator Aoun Abbas Bappi could come to the public scene only after the forced announcement of separation from Tehreek-e-Insaf after his forced disappearance.
• Imran Riaz, the famous journalist of the country, is still forcibly missing despite several court hearings and the court and the administration have failed to recover him.
• The Chief Justice of Pakistan should immediately take notice of this worst situation for basic human and constitutional rights and the rule of law in the country.
• The issue of forcibly disappeared Tehreek-e-Insaf workers and citizens should be taken into account and the Supreme Court itself should look into the matter.
• The Chief Justice should perform the duty of bringing the state machinery engaged in the promotion of forest law in the country within the ambit of the constitution and law through barbaric tactics independent of any regulation and law.
