17/05/2014 - Birmingham ??? PTI UK elected regional officials gathered in Birmingham to elect the first ever PTI UK President and General Secretary. Over 35 elected officials travelled from as far as Dundee, Scotland to be part of the historic moment.

The first presidential elections for a PTI overseas chapters was successfully organised, managed and conducted with the utmost transparency, openness and fairness by the Office of International Chapters (OIC) deputy secretary Farhat Faheem along with the PTI UK Finance Board members and independent observers. The election process consisted of 48 elected regional officials choosing their first PTI UK president and General Secretary. Whose roles will be largely ceremonial.

The process started with the oversight of OIC, Finance Board, independent observer as well as the elected officials ensuring a seamless process conducted in an utmost professional manner.

Akram Dhareeja one of the founding members of PTI UK remarked on the journey PTI UK took thru the years and how proud he felt being part of the historic moment. Akram Dhareeja reminded the contesting candidates not to lose focus on working for the betterment of the party and to engage with the broader audience across the UK.

On the occasion Deputy Secretary International Chapters (DSIC) Farhat Faheem remarked the professionalism, dedication and selfless approach of the elected teams across the 12 elected regions. In particular Farhat Faheem who manages the PTI UK & Ireland chapter and oversaw three PTI UK election cycles said the process is being cemented and at every stage carried the consultation of the PTI UK members, activists, stakeholders and senior members from across the UK. Farhat Faheem further reiterated the continued support OIC will give the elected body and will always be at hand to support the process and system.

Deputy Secretary International Chapters Asad Mahmood also remarked on the journey of the elected teams and encouraged the contesting candidates to work for the unity of the party.

Visiting on this special occasion was also Deputy Secretary International Chapters Jawad Ahmed who commented on the maturity of the PTI UK chapter and the leading role it is playing across PTI overseas chapters. Jawad Ahmed mentioned the support of the elected process is thru its members and the UK elections showed the grass root movement and empowerment of the members. Jawad Ahmed further said he is actively working on European elections and wanted PTI UK to build stronger ties with its European chapters and OIC will be at hand to assist and ferment stronger ties between PTI???s overseas chapters. As they are all part of the PTI family.

The election process concluded with the casting of 43 votes in person with the rest casted by proxy. Two contesting panels, one led by Asim Khan who is the regional President of London and the other led by Muhammad Amin who is the regional President of North East contested for the PTI UK President post. The process marked by a transparent box and counting conducted in front of all the elected officials signalled an open transparent and empowerment of members approach led and fully supported by the OIC.

The results were announced by Jawad Ahmed with the wining panel declared as Asim Khan PTI UK elected President and Chaudhry Shehzad Ahmed as PTI UK elected General Secretary.

The process concluded with hearty congratulations from all elected officials to both competing panels. Asim Khan elected PTI UK president said he would work selfless for the party and will work tirelessly to unite and carry the party to its next set of challenges. Both competing candidates vowed to work together and ensure PTI UK becomes a model chapter for PTI.

Office of International Chapters (OIC) thanked all the elected officials and once again reiterated its support to the elected bodies thru process and system.
