
PTI UK South East celebrated the 'Story of Pakistan' at Maidenhead on Sunday, 8th June, 2014. The event was also used as the launch pad for PTI South East initiative to actively take part in PTI educational programme Tameer-e- School. The chief guest was Adeel Hashmi, the well known actor, writer and producer who happens to be a grandson of the legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Several members of the South East team including Saffina Ellahi, president Women's Wing, regional secretaries Qadeer Ahmed and Ahmed Thakur addressed the gathering on topics relating to Pakistan and its educational issues. South East multi media team screened several presentations and film clips synchronised with the topics of the day including especially recorded message from the vice president of PTI, Asad Umar. Special guest Devan Sachal, president for minorities in Sindh, spoke about the massive PTI health programme in KPK, which he described as a great success.
Then came the highlight of the evening when stage secretaries Aamer Rana and Sadia Wasif handed over the stage to the chief guest Adeel Hashmi. In his typical relaxed and confident fashion he captivated the audience for his talk on Pakistan, its story and its problems. He reiterated his support and respect for Imran Khan and his sincere struggle for the people of Pakistan. He was given a standing ovation for his excellent talk. Finally, Anwar ul Haq, the president PTI South East, came on to the stage to thank everyone for their contribution towards making the event a great success. In his speech he announced his chapter's decision to practically participate in Tameer-e-School programme, a KPK government initiative aimed at improving the infrastructure of those schools which lack even the most basic of the facilities. He explained the programme with a presentation and formally announced the nominated school to be supported by the chapter.
