
Dr. Yasmin Raashid advisor to PTI Chairman has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of human lives due to Monday afternoon massive earthquake in major parts of the country. Up till now some 240 deaths are confirmed across the country in the aftermath of devastating earthquake she added. She said she fears the death toll may rise in the coming days as communication services are down in the remote mountainous region. Allah was kind this time as there was mercifully no catastrophic damage and no calamitous loss of life on the scale we saw back in 2005 she added. She said civilian disaster management bodies need more fund allocation and equipment supplies. She questioned how many earthquakes and other natural disasters Pakistan to have till governments have disaster management strategy made out for poor public, who always suffer? She prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said she is grieved over the loss of lives due to earthquake and she expressed her heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the families of the deceased. Government has setup National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and provincial disaster management authorities but disaster management is a science that needs constant up gradation she added. She said everyone at the helm of affairs knows that Pakistan is in the most active earthquake zone and prone to frequent earthquakes but no one ever tried to implement building codes even in cities like Islamabad and Lahore. Concerned authorities will act fast in a positive direction and help improve the paralyzed system in the affected areas she hoped. She urged the nation to come together as a nation like they did in 2005 when the spirit of volunteerism overcame the terrible natural calamity.
