Dr. Yasmin Raashid advisor to PTI Chairman said the American proverb beggars cannot be choosers holds true for PML-N government. In order to secure the next USD 502 million loan tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), PML-N government has agreed to impose Rs40 billion in additional taxes on the already overtaxed poor public she added. She said Ishaq Dar has finally conceded that PML-N government had missed revenue target by Rs40 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year. On the one hand Ishaq Dar is busy singing songs that country is holding highest ever reserves and on the other hand he is dying to get next tranche from IMF she added. She said Sharif Brothers had resorted to heavy taxation and end subsidies, which in turn led to price hike of essential commodities placing heavy burden on the common man. Sharif Brothers roam the world around carrying a begging bowl and has put nation???s self esteem at stake she added. The unfortunate part of PML-N government is that none of the so-called development for which they borrow loans has never paid off towards the growth of the economy and social development she said. Slavery to IMF will never let Pakistan deal with economic issues properly; Sharif Brothers will have to do what the master lender IMF want she added.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said even a fool knows that lenders always impose their terms and conditions on the needy. It is a fact that the IMF when lending does impose conditions, which have direct impact on the economy she added. She said IMF aid has been a curse for Pakistan's development as it subsidizes the elites who manage to pay no taxes and still reap the benefits of controlling the state and its affairs. Pakistan is stuck with IMF till government cut back on non-development spending she added. She said ruling elite of Pakistan live like Kings and that too on borrowed money. The poor nation is already paying huge burden of taxes whether direct or indirect to fund the luxurious lives of the ruler she said. Prosperity comes with vision, honesty, hard and dedicated work and a fair tax culture and not loans obtained from IMF on their conditions she added. She said in this precarious state of the country???s economy, each person including a newborn is under a debit of Rs110000 and that will increase to 140000 in 2020.
