25th October 2023 News Headlines

A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.

  1. Today marks the 80th day since Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf and former Prime Minister Imran Khan's unlawful imprisonment. While the courts have been swift in prosecuting cases against Imran Khan, they have been slow in providing him with legal relief. Despite these injustices, Imran Khan is choosing to fight his battle through the courts rather than seeking a compromise. In this regard, Imran Khan's legal team has challenged the unlawful indictment imposed during the illicit cipher jail trial in the Islamabad High Court. The plea argues that, "According to the law, charges can be framed seven days after the case's copy is distributed. The trial court did not adhere to this statutory requirement and rushed to file the charges, aiming for a speedy trial. The High Court has not given any directive to conduct a daily trial or expedite it. Without the central evidence, the cipher telegraph, the trial cannot proceed. The order of the Official Secrets Act Court dated October 23 should be set aside."
  2. Imran Khan recently met with his lawyers, and his attorney, Sher Afzal Marwat, noted that, "for the first time, no prison official overheard our conversation." This change was implemented at the request of Marwat and based on the law's requirement that a lawyer-client conversation remains confidential. During their meeting, Khan discussed various topics and directed that the Core Committee be informed that no PTI representative should participate in any programs on Geo TV, Sama TV, and Channel 24. Additionally, Khan instructed his legal team to initiate new legal cases after consulting with Shibli Faraz.
  3. The division bench that heard the petitions for pre-arrest bail of Chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust and Tosha Khana NAB cases broke after Justice Babar Sattar left the bench. Justice Babar Sattar remarked, "If a person is under arrest, then why is NAB not investigating him in its cases as well? Lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa said that we are saying that to restore the interim bail of Imran Khan. Another bench of the same court has restored interim bail in six of our cases. Justice Babar Sattar separated himself from the bench while giving final remarks, "I disagree with the bench which passed this order. I am not hearing this case, the bench which gave the decision will hear this case."
  4. Nawaz Sharif faced swift justice, while scheduled cases against Imran Khan were cancelled abruptly. Chairman Imran Khan's lawyer, Ali Ijaz Butar, said in his tweet, "Due to being in jail, the 7 interim bails of Imran Khan which were released due to his absence (Criminal revision) were fixed for today's hearing in the Lahore High Court. But look at the standard of justice, the hearing of the remaining cases of the bench of the Lahore High Court is going on, only the list of Imran Khan's cases has been cancelled."
  5. There are serious life threats to Chairman Imran Khan in jail, which his lawyers and family are constantly expressing. Because of the risk of slow poisoning through food, Imran Khan's wife had pleaded in the Islamabad High Court to provide safe food. On which notices are issued, but the court refuses to decide this small case. A hearing was held on this case today, a notice was issued, and the hearing was adjourned. If any harm befalls Imran Khan, the courts will be held accountable by the nation.
  6. Khadijah Shah, who's been in jail for five months, wrote a letter revealing the struggles of women from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. They've been held without reason since May 9, despite court-issued bails. The police keep inventing new cases to re-arrest them. Khadijah's letter tells the stories of these women, highlighting the hardship their children face without their mothers' care, and the reason behind this cruelty is their refusal to give false testimony against Imran Khan. She closes with a quote from the Holy Qur'an about doing justice and fearing Allah.
  7. Imran Khan was, is and will be my leader. Apparently, Sanam Javed was arrested, for May 9, but in reality, she was jailed for exposing Maryam Nawaz. Sanam wrote a letter to her father from jail saying, "I am not afraid of cases. Imran Khan was, is and will always be my leader."
  8. After the incidents on May 9, several leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf were arrested. Some were declared as fugitives, and others were abducted. Those who remained loyal to Imran Khan are still in jail, while those who gave interviews or held press conferences, despite being fugitives, were set free. This pattern also occurred in the case of Andleeb Abbas, who led Khadija Shah and other women. Those who stood their ground were incarcerated, while the primary accused, Andleeb Abbas, joined Jahangir Tareen's party and saw all the charges against her dropped.
  9. Tearing down banners welcoming Nawaz Sharif is now being treated as a crime. In the Dunyapur area of Lodhran, ten individuals were identified and named in a case for tearing Nawaz Sharif's welcome posters, while another case was filed against 12 unidentified individuals. Prior to this incident, numerous students were also arrested for tearing Nawaz Sharif's banners.
  10. The unconstitutional caretaker government, which previously suspended Nawaz Sharif's sentence, has initiated the jail trial for PTI workers. The Unconstitutional Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab has granted approval for the jail trial of all the cases related to the events of May 9. The Inspector General of Punjab had submitted a summary for this purpose. The jail trials will be conducted by anti-terrorism courts in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Faisalabad.
  11. Numerous cancer patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, receiving treatment at Kiran Hospital in Karachi, have reported that their chemotherapy has been halted due to the suspension of health cards. This suspension poses a significant threat to their lives. Healthcare services have remained closed for a week, as the province is facing financial difficulties. Since the departure of Imran Khan's government, the situation has left many people feeling helpless and stranded.
