PTI Punjab President EjazChaudhary said after massive rigging in May 2013 elections PMLN once again trying to rig local bodies??? election in Cantonment areas, as Punjab Government has decided to immediately start development schemes in these localities before ECP???s announcement of election schedule. He said announcement of these uplift schemes well before the elections is meant to rig and buy the elections.
He said its in PMLN blood that they never paly fair. He said Election Commission of Pakistan is constitutionally responsible to hold free, fair and transparent elections and thus needs to stop this corruption.
Secretary General Yasmin Rashid said public money is being invested to purchase votes in Cantonment areas. She said she feared that if this continues, free, fair and transparent elections would be unlikely in Cantonments, which will be another setback to democratic norms. She said Punjab Government is making a mockery of their promise to do electoral reforms, as they know that if they do not rig the elections they will lose badly.
Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said rules and procedures were being violated for initiating work on these uplift schemes before formal announcement of election schedule is outright pre poll rigging. She said that the two years miserable performance of PMLN government has proven that the only way they can come into government is by rigging the elections. She said this money should be spent on health and education of the masses that is the top priority.
Instead she said these multi-billion rupee disbursements in the name of ???development schemes??? would be financed through the development funds allocated to the parliamentarians who will make millions out of these inflated projects. She urged the Chief Election Commissioner to take notice and stop these funds immediately.
