PTI (London) Press ReleaseMay 27th, 2014: General Secretary Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Mr Jahangir Khan Tareen had a meeting with PTI UK Elected bodies on Sunday May the 25th in London. The meeting was chaired by President PTI UK Asim Khan. General Secretary PTI UK Chaudhry Shahzad Ahmed and Dy. Sec OIC Mr Farhat Faheem also addressed the meeting. Mr Jahangir Tareen in his address to PTI UK Officials congratulated PTI UK to have successfully completed 3rd Intra Party elections and electing the first national body.
Answering candid questions from the elected officials Mr Jahangir Tareen agreed to look into the fee structure, Tenure of Elected bodies and other pressing operational issues raised at the meeting including suggestions related to AJK wing of PTI UK. In his address Mr Jahangir Tareen appreciated the efforts of PTI UK to achieve a strong system that has matured over time. He further said that PTI UK's role has been fundamental in Party's progress. HE said that it is important that PTI UK understands its importance as a strong PTI chapter which is now the biggest overseas chapter of any political party in south Asia. Central leadership recognises PTI UK as one of the key arms of the party which has been instrumental in its contribution not only in monetary terms but also in policies, Activism, motivating people and creating a strong political platform overseas for Pakistan that has also taken the central role in taking a number of issues to international platform including governments and global think tanks. He stressed that the chairman and central leadership sees the role of PTI UK beyond just a financial support and expects it to take lead in taking the message of PTI further.
During the meeting he also took questions about matters related to constituencies and regions in Pakistan of the respective office bearers. He appreciated the courage of PTI workers and supporters in Karachi who defied all fears and came out in millions to support and vote for PTI. He said that of all PTI workers, PTI workers and supporters in Karachi are working under the most challenging and threatened environment and the political landscape of Karachi requires a different phased approach to stand against mafias backed by political parties in Karachi without resorting to violence as voters in Karachi are among the most aware and learned working class of Pakistan. He reiterated that PTI will not back off from its demand of thumb impression verification in four constituencies and bringing the culprits who were accomplice to the monumental rigging in the general elections to justice. PTI has exposed the looters of national mandate. He said that PTI will continue to exert pressure through mass mobilisation of people across Pakistan for Justice and electoral reforms. After the meeting with elected bodies he had a brief meet up with senior activists from PTI UK later where he took their questions and thanked the attendees in the end who took out their time for the session at very short notice.
