Dr. Yasmin Raashid advisor toPTI Chairman said while the security forcers are waging the war against theterrorists the shameless so-called VIP ruling elite is using over 6,000 policemen from Lahore for their security. These 6.000 police officials are guarding VIPs and their families while the poor public is left to die at the hands of terrorists she added. She said the irony is that these 6,000 policemen are from the operations wing of Lahore police. Operations wing is an integral and major component of the police department whose primary objective is to fight crime and protect the lives of the common man she added. She said, the major chunk of the police is deployed to protect the VIPs, which leads to the dearth of operational force in provincial metropolitan, a city of around 10 million people. Due to this non-professional approach of Khadam I Alla the police force in Punjab has merely become the servant of the ruling elite she added. She said law and order situation is going unchecked in Lahore. The gravity of the situation can be analyzed from the single incidence when the last week the house of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif???s brother Abbas Sharif has been robed she added. She said if the brother of Prime Minster and Chief Minster is not safe who will protect the poor public. Khadam I Alla is advised to stop using police force for personal use and allow them to dispense their duties as per theirbasic job description she added.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said Sharif Brothers set this shameful precedent to use police for their personal security. Sharif Brothers think policemen are their personalservants and they can use them, as they want she added. She said some 1,237policemen are part of the security division to cater to security requirements of PM Nawaz Sharif and CM Shahbaz Sharif and their families in Lahore. Sharif family is enjoying VVIP security on account of public money she added. She said in war torn Khyber Pakhtunkhwa even Chief Mister is not allowed to use police for his personal security let alone the provincial lawmakers. But unfortunately here in Punjab, the police are blatantly used to escort the vehicles of theVIPs she added. She said Lahore needs one policeman for every group of 200 people. Due to the deployment on VIPs duties, the current police-populationratio in Lahore is desperately lowest at one to 2,000 she added. She said the basic purpose of the police was to protect the common man???s life and property. But in Punjab the role of police unfortunately is restricted to protect the high-ups she added. She said she hopes the so-called VIPs in Punjab would take some leaf out of PTI government in KP and shun the VIP culture.
