Planning Commission Admits Failure of PML-N Policies: PTI | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Dr. Yasmin Raashid advisor to PTI Chairman said in a rare admission Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has admitted that PML-N government failed to deliver on its promises. The Planning Commission chairman while speaking at a consultative meeting on Government???s Mid-Term Performance: Review and Future Planning has confessed that current economic growth was not sufficient she added. She said the poor minister presented his much talked Vision 2025 in August last year but unfortunately he miserably failed to kick start the implementation on the so-called vision due to infighting of different ministries. The Vision 2025 turns out to a big flop she added. She said the country is faced with grave economic issues of immediate nature and call for a fire-fighting approach but PML-N busies fooling the nation. The corrupt lot knows what needs to be done, but wont do because it will hurt their politics and their businesses. She said for how many times we have heard about reforms and need to strengthen institutions from PML-N. Pakistan can never progress until and unless institutions are not made free from politics and nepotism she added. She said Ahsan Iqbal is advised to convince Sharif Brothers to delegate him some powers if he wants to deliver on his Vision 2025. The kitchen cabinet of Sharif Family cannot do anything if their only pass time is to enjoy luxurious foreign trips she added.

PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said Planning Commission mid term review shows the sheer helplessness of the government to deliver on the economic front. If the interest rates are 40 years low, lowest inflation in 12 years, highest foreign exchange reserves and remittances as per the government then why PML-N government failed to achieve growth rate target. She said Ahsan Iqbal says that the Planning Commission had saved Rs567 billion through cost rationalization of development projects over the past two years. She questioned if government has saved Rs567 billion then why fiscal deficit keeps soaring and why 40 billion mini-budget was announced? She said PML-N has given Vision 2025 aiming at making Pakistan an economically strong and prosperous country. The ill-visioned Vision 2025failed to deliver in its first year the nation can think about the fate of this Vision 2025 she added. She said the long-term planning is immaterial at the current level of economic uncertainty. PML-N government should try to ward off immediate threats to the foundation of the economic system, which depends upon IMF loans, she added. She said Vision 2025 was just eyewash the government first needs to fix the sinking ship of economy on immediate basis.
