Dr. Yasmin Raashid, advisor to PTI Chairman said when the entire nation on Wednesday was commemorating the great sacrifice of Army Public School (APS) children, PPP government taking advantage of its majority in Sindh Assembly curtailed the powers of Rangers who were waging war against terrorists in Karachi. To protect the big guns who are behind the terror financing and corruption PPP has strictly restricted Rangers role to only four areas of crime: target killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and sectarian killings she added. She said how shameful it is that the resolution presented out of order in the assembly by provincial Home Minister barred the Rangers from detaining anyone suspected of financing terrorism or raid any government office without prior approval from CM or chief secretary. Sindh government has taken all rights back from Rangers to pursue action against corruption, intelligence based actions to directly investigate the documents she added. She said it is clear now that Sindh government is protecting the criminals. All this is being done to protect the top brass of PPP, which is in hot water after Dr. Asim Hussain starling revelations she added.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said unfortunately PPP had the audacity to curtail Ranger's power to fight terrorism on the day of first anniversary of APS attack. PPP used the provincial assembly to take the sting out of the Rangers, despite a united reaction of the opposition parties she added. She said PPP, which always rants about democracy, strangulated the democratic norms by bulldozing the mandate of opposition parties in the provincial assembly. The so-called democrats want to impose their hegemony in the province she added. She said what does this clause of resolution mean that Rangers would only be allowed to arrest criminals involved in target killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and sectarian killings. This means money laundering, land grabbers and terror financers would go scot-free she added. She said by this resolution PPP has given protection to looters, criminals and terrorists. PPP has shown its real face that is that they want to protect the corrupt and criminals at any cost and they are least interested to establish peace in Karachi she added. She said PPP was beating the drums and celebrating the success of Rangers operation in Karachi until Dr. Asim Hussain was arrested. Now when the next phase of the operation has started, PPP has came out to protect the criminals she added. She said by this action of Sindh government there are chances that Karachi would again become the hub of terrorism. Karachi operation was started on Supreme Court instructions and the Supreme Court must intervene and empower the Rangers she added.
