London - President of PTI (UK) London Shahbaz Khan, Information Secretary Atif Ali Shah & PTI Human Rights Wing Mehtab Aziz were invited to the Round Table Talk on Afghanistan which took place on 25th April 2013 at the House Of Lords. This event was organised by the Institute of Islamic Strategic and Socio-Political Affairs based in London and was chaired by Lord Ahmed of Rotherham.   PTIs presence was requested by the organisers because Chairman Imran Khan has always advocated dialogue with the Taliban that is a political solution rather than a military one.  This event???s focus was on the proposed pull out of US and UK troops and its effect on Afghanistans future and the resultant position of the Taliban with respect to such a development.   Lord Nazir Ahmed welcomed attendees and gave a brief back-ground of the conflict, highlighted the need for reconciliation amongst all groups. Mathew Gordon Banks Chaired the meeting. Pro Anatol Lieven writer of ???Pakistan: The hard Country??? and Professor of War Studies at the Kings College, presented ???Taliban Perspective of Reconciliation???. He is part of field research delegation who met Taliban Leaders to understand their perspective of reconciliation. Gen Hamid Gul via phone gave Pakistan Army???s perspective including the perspective of other Mujahedeen leaders in Afghanistan on ???Talks with Talibans??? Other Participants included Dr.Harsh V Pant, Julian Schofield associate professor at Concordia University in Canada, Michiel Hoffman a senior humanitarian specialist at Medicine San Frontier or Doctors without borders. Atif Ali Shah Information secretary London PTIUK briefs the audience about PTI???s vision of foreign policy towards Afghanistan. He emphasised on the importance of talks with Talibans towards attaining lasting peace in the region. Atif Ali Shah explained how presence of foreign troops exacerbating the security situation in neighbouring countries. He further emphasised on the importance of devising a road map for a solution that reflects the will of the people of Afghanistan than serving the political and economic agenda of occupying powers. President PTI London Shahbaz Khan answered the questions of the participants. The series of meeting will continue to further explore the options to achieve peace and stability inside Afghanistan.
