PTI Rejects AGP Audit Report on Nandipur | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Dr. Yasmin Raashid advisor to PTI Chairman said as expected Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) who is blue eyed boy of Sharif Brothers has given a clean chit to PML-N government on the Nandipur power project. The AGP in his report audit report states there is no cost overrun or misappropriation in the project???s financial affairs she added. She said whom should the poor nation believe, the AGP or the official documents of the Ministry of Water and Power which show that the cost of Nandipur Power Project has gone up from Rs57 billion to Rs84 billion. This ill-fated project should have been audited thoroughly by an independent auditor instead of a person who is on government payroll she added. She said the AGP has just given generalized audit observations he did and did not fix the responsibility of the officials involved in this colossal mismanagement and huge loss to public exchequer. Who should penalize those involved in this mega corruption and how the loss would be compensated, she questioned? She said PML-N propaganda machinery has strange aggressive-defensive approach to the project. Some of its members including CM Shabaz Sharif continue to claim massive corruption publically in the project but have continued to defend the project shamelessly she added. She said PML-N attitude is shameful as the Nandipur scandal is the outcome of PML-N government.

PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said every single person in the country knows that to cover up the ghastly corruption PML-N out booted Akhtar Buland Rana from the office of the Auditor General of Pakistan and appointed Rana Asad Amin as new AGP. Sharif Brothers ignored three senior most officials of Audit and Accounts Group and appointed a retired bureaucrat Asad Amin as AGP she added. She said Akhtar Buland Rana was forced out earlier because he gave PMl-N government a hard time over the nasty incidents of corruption and graft in circular debt payments. Now Asad Amin who was obliged by Sharif Brothers has no other option but to work as per the wishes of Sharif Brothers. Why Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif is shying from holding an independent audit, which he already has promised, she questioned? She said the funny thing is that AGP report found faults with the design of the project, which is a technical thing and is out of the scope of a finance person while APG says everything concerning with the financials of the project is Ok. Khawaja Asif, Minister of Water and power has admitted that nation has faced a loss of Rs12 billion because of the plant???s shutdown for three months she added. She said she hopes Khawaja Asif would show some grace and resign for causing loss of billions of rupees. The nation is also waiting NAB inquiry on the project as requested by CM Shahbaz Sharif she added. She rejected AGP report and demands an independent audit of the project.
