PTI Slams PML-N Government On Gas Tariff Increase | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Dr. Yasmin Raashid, advisor to PTI Chairman said under Sharif Brothers Roshan Pakistan mantra poor nation is facing constant dilemma of poor governance that has undermined the smooth delivery of public services. As soon as the winters start, natural gas become a rare commodity throughout the country she added. She said when the country is facing severe gas shortage, the ruling elite which is in complete disconnect with the public, has raised gas tariff by 38 percent. The gas prices were last increased in September this year, now all of sudden this hefty increase of 38 percent would add misery to the lives of the public she added. She said solving energy crisis was a key campaign pledge for Sharif Brothers in the run-up to the 2013 general election. All their promises vanished in thin air as they have been miserably failed to solve the energy crisis she added. She said PML-N has burned billions of rupees from public money on massive advertisement campaign on the success of energy projects. While the fact of the matter is not a single mega watt of electricity was produced in the country and no gas explored or imported she added. She said the gas shortage and increase in tariff is heaping fresh pressure on PML-N government. It is the public that is suffering but Sharif Brothers are least bothered to look into the miseries of the public she added.

PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said PML-N having failed to address any of the issues during the last two and half years the government has lost its credibility and trust. Instead of resolving the gas crisis Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is saying he is helpless and gas shortage will persist till next January 2016 end she added. She said with every passing day due to incompetence and absence of the ability to foresee the crisis PML-N government is propelling Pakistan towards stone age. How shameful it is for a nuclear power country that not only its industries are closed down due to energy crisis but the domestic consumers are also struggling to cook the food she added. She said she does not understand why Pakistan is facing gas load shedding when as per the estimate of Petroleum Ministry Pakistan???s shale gas and oil reserves are more than the combined reserves of Central Asian States put together. But current government is not ready to speed up the exploration; rather they are bent upon importing the gas on high rates she added. She said Sharif Brothers are advised to go after the powerful gas thieves instead off increasing the tariff. If PML-N government continues along the path that it currently seems to be treading upon, then Pakistanis have every reason to believe that the energy challenges that country today faces would further aggravate with the passage of time she added. She demanded that government immediately decrease gas tariff.
