Slough Town - Fast Tsunami, Imran Khan Dinner Event - A Great Success
 
Slough town played host to Imran Khan, the epicentre of the political phenomena called Tsunami, on Sunday 18th November in a packed venue at The Centre in Farnham road for a fund raising dinner. Although two halls of this major conference centre were merged to create a dining capacity for over 700 paying guests, the venue was still sold out almost a week in advance. Party workers gave up their £100 per head seats deciding to remain on their feet for the duration of the evening.  Dozens of last minute requests for tickets had to be turned down and many people who had turned up hoping to get a ticket on the night could not be accommodated. The event was organised by PTI UK under the leadership of Asim Maqsood Basraa, the president of PTI South East, the host region with the support and cooperation from London, South West, Wales, Yorks & Humberside, North West, West Midlands and East of England.  With the recent establishment of strong chapters in Slough and High Wycombe, South East is emerging as a major hub for PTI UK.
The massive hall was decorated under the supervision of Anwar Ul Haq, head of the core committee South East, in PTI colours and special banners were created specifically for the occasion. Imran Khan entered the graceful surroundings amongst thunderous applause and slogans. A group of children presented flowers to him. When he took the stage for his speech, he revealed that he had doubts about the success of the event [due to its political nature] and  paid tremendous tribute to the organisers for pulling off such a huge success - a complete sell out. He once again reiterated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was poised to sweep into power. He reassured the audience that there was no party in Pakistan who could challenge PTI because all of its major opponents had sold themselves for their own vested interests whereas PTI was striving to rescue Pakistan from its present corrupt leadership. He said he would pull Pakistan out of Americas so called war on terror and reform tax collection as parts of a process of sweeping reforms to bring peace and prosperity to Pakistan without any foreign aid or interference. His speech was followed by an auction, conducted by stage host Asif Khan, president Yorks and Humberside and Hamid Sana, Finance secretary South East, to raise money which included two cricket balls that were used in cricket matches in the eighties that Imran Khan had played in, which were sold for a total of £4000. Further cash pledges pushed the total of raised money over £140,000 which also included a single donation of £10,000. Stage procession was administrated by Aamer Rana, General secretary South East.
In his speech, the event coordinator Asim Basraa thanked the participants and party workers for their support in making the event a bumper success. Asim Khan, president of London chapter, Amer Chishti, president North West, Saeed Hashmi, president East of England and Dr. Sabreena Razaq Hussain, president PTI South West also addressed the audience. Dr Sabreena played a central role in the organisation and execution of this event. Finally as an acknowledgement of their achievements Imran Khan had a photo taken with Sloughs host team. Soon after this the PTI leader made an early exit due to his personal engagement later that evening. Another prominent member of the PTI leadership, Dr. Humayun Mohmand, Secretary Office of International Affairs , also participated in the function and at the end of the event he held talks with elected bodies. Dr. Mohmand and Asim Basraa also distributed PTI T-shirts amongst the party workers. During the evening the participants were served a lavish three course meal. As a mark of respect for Muharam Alahraam, music and usual PTI songs were excluded from the programme.  In the planning and execution of the event day, Riaz Hassan, president Wales played a crucial role.
