Dr. Yasmin Raashid, advisor to PTI Chairman said CM Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah is fooling the poor people of Thar by constituting ministerial committees to identify the problems in Thar as if he does not know the real problem. Due to hunger, poverty and non-availability of basic health facilities more than 16 innocent children have lost their lives in last one week she added. She said famine has again started killing children in Thar. Local hospitals??? budget is finished, staff is missing, drugs are out of stock and the poor children are left to die every year she added. She said children suffering from various diseases are dying one-by-one and there is no one to listen to the poor parents. If incompetent Sindh government had taken precautionary measures after the advent of winter, the deaths of innocent children could have been prevented she added. She said meanwhile, PPP entire leadership holds meetings in lavish hotels of Dubai but they cannot look after poor people who are dying because of starvation. Unfortunately each and every child who dies of starvation and ill health holds no value for the ruling elite she added. She warns of another looming famine-like situation in Thar.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said she could understand Sindh government limitations, as the entire government machinery is busy hiding its corruption as the fear of Rangers operation is looming on their heads. The Sindh government does not care for the starving poor children of Thar , as it has to save its skin she added. She said in 2014-15 more than 300 children died in Thar because of waterborne diseases and malnutrition; this year again deaths have started but Sindh government is least bothered about the situation. This time too Qaim Ali Shah will do nothing in Thar because like Shabaz Sharif he only issue statements and give speeches but does nothing for the welfare of people she added. She said in March 2014 Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced Rs one billion in aid for the affectees of the famine-hit Thar region. But so far not a single penny has been spent in the region out of one billion she added. She said whether it was Sindh government or federal government they were always reactive to the situation. God forbid if the situation gets worse then staged surprise visits will be held to cash some publicity in the media, but on ground no would do nothing she added. She said unfortunately corruption has destroyed the foundations of society and the poor helpless masses have accepted all problems as their fate while criminals are ruling them shamelessly. Is Thar is not part of Pakistan, and are children of Thar children of lesser God she questioned?
