Dr. Yasmin Raashid, advisor to PTI Chairman said finally the name of Sharif Brother's closest crony Saif-ur-Rehman has surfaced in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) corruption. To reward Saif-ur-Rehman the government has declared financial close worth USD 1.9 billion of a 1,320MW coal-based power project without completing prerequisites she added. She said on one hand PML-N government boasts about transparency in CPEC and on the other hand the dubious Saif-ur-Rehman has been assigned the task to make decisions. Every single person knows the corruption unleashed by Saif-ur-Rehman on the behest of Sharif Brothers in 90s she added. She said Saif-ur-Rehman has suddenly risen back from political oblivion into making lucrative deals whether it was LNG deal with Qatar or CPEC projects. Shamelessly Sharif Brothers were denying role of Saif-ur-Rehman in any government deal whit foreign investors while he was photographed with government officials in every key meeting she added. She said the way government has declared financial close of USD 1.9 billion project clearly shows mala fide intentions of Sharif Brothers and Saif-ur-Rehman to make huge money out of this project.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said again like Nandipur power project PML-N government has declared financial close of the power project in haste. Financial close occurs when all the project and financing agreements have been signed and all the required conditions contained in them have been met but here in this project controversies still remain over the transfer of land title to the project company she added. She said to safe guard the interests of Saif-ur-Rehman the government has issued sovereign guarantee. Since Sharif Brothers took the reins in 2013 Saif-ur-Rehman???s name is popping up in every big deal she added. She said Saif-ur-Rehman a controversial character of Pakistani politics is working as front man of Sharif Brothers. Saif-ur-Rehman had a seedy past, which cannot be forgotten she added. She said Sharif Brothers did not learn any thing from their past as if they had then they would not have allowed Saif-ur-Rehman to come near their government. Sharif Brothers would do any thing to make money via corruption, as corruption is their blood she added. She said people still have in their memories the telephonic conversation between Saif-ur-Rehman and Justice Abdul Qayyum. Saif-ur-Rehman has a long history of blackmailing people and perhaps Sharif Brothers made him their front man so that he remains silent on their corruption stories. Saif-ur-Rehman with his shady practices in CPEC projects would turn out be another Dr. Asim Hussain she added. She demanded NAB to take immediate action on this tampering of CPEC money.
