PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhary said Sharif Brothers have destroyed textile industry of Pakistan due to their pathetic policies. He said what happened to the much-talked Textile Policy 2014-19? He said textile industry was once one of the major revenue producer and contributor to the economy but Sharif Brothers are bent upon destroying every industry including the textile.
He said already a large number of investors have left the country. He said the investors prefer to invest in Bangladesh, which has adopted a business friendly policy for textile investors. He said Government has done nothing to address the energy issue faced by the textile sector.
Secretary General Yasmin said Pakistan???s textile industry can no more compete in the international market as the industry is struggling for energy availability.
She said how can production be increased without electricity and gas in the country. She said Pakistan needs competent people in decision and policymaking who make sensible decisions based on policy with planning, rather than the so-called experienced team of Sharif Brothers. She said GSP Plus status is of no use until we do not fix the energy issue, but it is not on priority list of the PMLN.
Information Secretary Andleeb said Pakistan is the 4th largest produce of cotton in the world; it is shameful that the ruling elite never tried to unleash the country???s potential. She said unfortunately PMLN Government is after inauguration ceremonies of roads and Metro Buses and they never think of the sufferings of poor farmers and the industrialists.
She said the textile manufacturers are crying hoarse over the government???s failure to maintain the electricity and gas supplies to them. She said after GSP Plus status textile industry was likely to take the benefit of adding value itself and increase direct exports to the EU but the policy makers failed to take advantage of that. She demanded that the industry demands of energy supply should be fulfilled on priority.
