PTI Punjab President EjazChaudhary expressed deep concerns over worseninglaw and order situation in Punjab particularly in Lahore. He said the wayrenowned actress RoohiBano was attacked has exposed the performance of lawenforcement agencies. He said in another tragic hit and run incident at Ferozpur Road a member of PTI Social Media team, MazharIqbal died.He questioned what is Punjab Police is doing to maintain law and order situation in Punjab.
He said Punjab Police is acting as the personal guards of Sharif
Family the protection of common man's life and property is not on their priority list. He said innocent people are killed on the road it seemsthat the only people with any protection are families with a legacy of dynastic politics and exploitation.
Secretary General Yasmin said unfortunately Punjab Police is onlyprotecting Sharif family while the common man has to take care of his protectionhimself. She said after the promulgation of the Police Order 2002 theprovinces are expected to improve their law enforcement apparatus. Beside KPno other province has introduced police reforms. She said withoutoperational autonomy, de-politicization and independent public oversight, policing standards will continue to fall short. This is what we areexperiencing in Punjab where infamous Thana Culture is presentbecause itsuits ruling elite.
Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said the stale mate created in policebehavior clearly speaks poorly of ShabazSharifs competence. Their government functionaries are there only to enjoy VIP perks & they do not have theright merit to introduce police reforms. She said to maintainlaw and order police performance is diminishing day by day and touching thelowest ebb.
She said Shabaz Sharif is not using Punjab Police for the core job it was meant for. She said we, as a human being should value human life.She expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic death of MazharIqbaland demanded that police should immediately arrest his killer.
