PTI Core committee Meeting – Press Release

An important meeting of the core committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf took place today in which following important points were discussed:

• A detailed review of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Attock Shafqatullah Khan's visit to Attock Jail and verification of ill-treatment by Chairman Imran Khan.
• Strongly condemn the worst vindictive behavior of Jail authorities with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
• Chairman Imran Khan is facing very inhumane, immoral and illegal treatment in jail.
• The Additional District and Sessions Judge in his report has confirmed all the concerns that the Core Committee has been informing the nation from time to time.
• The Ministry of Law's notification to set up a special court to hear cases under the Official Secrets Act has been rejected.
• Despite the President's clear stance, serious concern was expressed over the appearance of Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the special court and the in-camera hearing.
• Legislation on any matter is not complete without the approval of the President.
• In the first round of legislation, applying the principle of "self-approval" to a draft law that lacks the approval of the President is a clear deviation from the Constitution and rules and regulations.
• In the second round of legislation, "self-approval" is applied ten days after approval by the joint session of the Parliament and sent to the President for approval.
• The draft amendments to the Army Act and the Official Secrets Act were sent to the President on August 8.
• After the dissolution of the National Assembly on the recommendation of the Prime Minister on August 9, the Parliament was incomplete for the approval of the two amendment bills.
• As a result of President's clear refusal and violation of orders, issuance of notification of amendment drafts is a serious mockery of the constitution and law, condemnable and arrestable crime.
• The sole purpose of speeding up retaliation against Tehreek-e-Insaf on the unapproved laws bill is to crush the future of Imran Khan and his party.
• The core committee of Tehreek-e-Insaf will approach the Supreme Court for the solution of this serious constitutional and state crisis and to take full action against those responsible.
• In the meeting, various aspects of the hearing of the appeal against the sentence of Chairman Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana case were also discussed in the Islamabad High Court on August 22.
• The legal team will fight their case vigorously, it is hoped that the series of revenge and discriminatory implementation of the law will end and justice will be provided.
• In the meeting, the continuation of the worst reprisals against the workers and leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf was also reviewed.
• Strongly condemn the sealing of Usman Dar's house and factory once again in flagrant violation of court orders.
• Strongly condemned the bare state aggression against senior parliamentarian Sardar Nasrullah Khan Drishek and his family in South Punjab.
• Strong reiteration of the demands of the formation of a highly empowered judicial commission to investigate the secret message (cipher) sent by the ambassador of Pakistan to America by the Core committee and to make the nation aware of the facts.
• Agreed not to accept any unconstitutional attempts to extend the holding of elections beyond 90 days after the dissolution of the National Assembly.
• Detailed consideration of organizational matters in today's meeting of the Core Committee.
• Expressing satisfaction on the performance of the organizational structures regarding the effective achievement of the organizational goals by the Core Committee and a great tribute to the officials.
• Consideration of various options regarding the supremacy of the constitution, rule of law, restoration of democracy, protection of people's right to vote and active participation of the people in the movement for real freedom.
• Discussions were also held on the strategy of dealing with serious political challenges along with the release of all imprisoned leaders and workers including Chairman Imran Khan.
• With a great tribute to the determination and perseverance of the workers and leaders imprisoned in the prisons in very unfavorable conditions, we pray for their health and safety and for their early release.
• Tribute to the workers and officials who keep the message of Chairman Imran Khan alive, advance the narrative and activities of the movement in the shadow of the worst state oppression and fascism.
