Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Core committee - Press Release 

In accordance with the directives of the Founder Chairman, Imran Khan, the Core Committee of Tehreek-e-Insaf has thoroughly deliberated on matters pertaining to the distribution of tickets for the upcoming general elections.

The Core Committee affirms that all necessary formalities for the scheduling of general elections on February 8, including the compilation of final lists of ticket holders for the National and Provincial Assembly, have been successfully completed.

Despite facing severe state aggression and interference in the electoral process, the committee commends the commendable efforts of candidates who, on a large scale, submitted and secured approval for their nomination papers.

Expressing strong condemnation, the Core Committee rejects the unconstitutional, illegal, and undemocratic resolution passed by the Senate of Pakistan to postpone the elections. It emphasizes that the Supreme Court, under Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, has unequivocally ordered the conduct of transparent and fair general elections on February 8, 2024.

The Core Committee deems the postponement of elections beyond the scheduled date as an extra-constitutional measure that would plunge the country into socio-economic crisis. It warns against cynical attempts to influence the timely conduct or transparency of elections, asserting that such actions will lead to chaos and instability, making it challenging for the next government to navigate.

Calling upon all state institutions, the Core Committee urges them to take effective measures to ensure the timely, transparent, and fair conduct of general elections on February 8, fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities. It emphasizes that any deviation from this path could jeopardize the stability of the country and its socio-economic well-being.
